Holidays in October 2027

October has no public holidays. The spring school holidays run 23 September to 4 October 2027, so the first weekend of the month is still holiday time. Schools reopen on Tuesday 5 October.

The Kruger tariff year ends on 31 October, and the new conservation fees start on 1 November each year. See Kruger fees.

What October is like in the park

October is the start of the rainy season, and if the rains come late it can be very hot. At Skukuza in Kruger the average high is 32 °C and the average low 17 °C, with about 40 mm of rain. The grass starts to green up, but the bush hasn't thickened yet, so game viewing is still good. Steppe eagles begin to arrive.

When to leave Marloth

Crocodile Bridge is about 20-30 min from Marloth Park. With the earlier opening, leave by 05:00 to be at the gate for 05:30.

Lower Sabie is 34 km from the gate, which is a little over an hour at the 30 km/h average to plan on. Leave Lower Sabie by 16:45 to be through Crocodile Bridge before 18:00.

The day fee is R140 for a South African adult until 31 October 2027.

Other months: September, November or the whole year.
